Grant N. Niman - Founder, President & CEO

Grant Niman

Grant Niman is the founder of Niman & Associates, Inc. Grant began his career with the Internal Revenue Service, and subsequently spent four years at Price Waterhouse in the Entrepreneurial Services Group. Grant then worked with BDO Seidman where he was part of the firm’s national committee for state and local taxation. He was a founding partner of Raimondo Pettit Group, where he specialized in assisting high wealth individuals and closely held corporations with tax planning and wealth preservation strategies.

Grant formed Niman & Associates in September 2008, with the focus on providing value added services to high net worth individuals, families and closely held businesses. His expertise encompasses the areas of business management, estates and trusts, and in particular assisting families in the sound accumulation and transition of wealth. His family office services include multi-generational planning, tax and estate planning as well as day-to-day operations.

Grant is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, and has over 25 years of public accounting experience. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California. He is a member of the Tax and Personal Financial Planning Sections of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and holds their Personal Financial Specialist designation. He is also a member of the California Society of CPAs and the South Bay Estate Planning Council.

Jennifer A. Shafer - Managing Director

Jennifer Shafer is Managing Director at Niman & Associates, responsible for the overall management and operation of the firm and for client satisfaction. She worked as a tax manager at Raimondo Pettit Group responsible for estate and trust tax matters, and together with Grant and Carol Raimondo formed the nucleus of one of the most-respected estate and trust practices in Los Angeles, a practice that continues at Niman & Associates. Jennifer began her career at BDO Seidman and has over fifteen years experience in tax matters. Jennifer’s focus is the estate and trust area and her expertise includes fiduciary accounting, charitable trust income tax compliance, estate and trust administration, reporting and planning, and support to estate administrators and fiduciaries. Jennifer is an Enrolled Agent admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service.

Carol Raimondo - Director of Estate & Trust Services

Carol Raimondo is Director of Estate & Trust Services at Niman & Associates. Carol was a founding partner of Raimondo Pettit Group, prior to that, she was the director of the tax practice of the Torrance office of BDO Seidman. She also worked with KPMG Peat Marwick and a local accounting firm. Her expertise includes business structure, business and transactional planning, as well as individual, estate and trust tax planning in industries ranging from professional, medical, manufacturing, distribution and real estate.

Carol is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in California and a nationally recognized expert in the area of estate and gift taxation, Carol was chairman of BDO Seidman's national committee on estates and gift taxation and a lecturer with the AICPA. She has been active in the California CPA Foundation education programs as a speaker on estate tax matters and as a chair of the annual estate planning conference and advanced estate tax institutes. She has also served as President for the South Bay Estate Planning Council.

Carol’s professional affiliations include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Estate and Gift Tax Committee, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Carol graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland.

Gregory E. Breen - Director of Tax Services

Greg Breen is Director of Tax Services at Niman & Associates. He specializes in corporate and business taxation, having worked for the last two decades in internal tax management positions for several multinational businesses, most recently IBM. Before joining industry, Greg worked as a Senior Manager with Price Waterhouse, having spent eight years there including stints in that firm’s New York, Seattle and Los Angeles offices. Greg holds a degree from Claremont Mens’ College with a double major in accounting and literature, and a law degree from UCLA. Greg has also taught as an adjunct professor in the Master’s of Taxation program at Golden Gate University. Greg is a member of the California state bar. Greg’s professional experience includes tax minimization planning, operational restructuring, international tax planning, tax controversy, multistate tax planning, and transactional tax review.

Linda L. Quane - Director of Accounting Services

Linda Quane is Director of Accounting Services at Niman & Associates. In that position, she is responsible for overseeing our compilation, review and other assurance projects, and ensuring that those projects comply with regulatory and technical guidance. Linda is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in California and has fifteen years of experience working for accounting firms in the South Bay area of Los Angeles. She worked as a tax manager with Loucks, Adamek & Company, and as a tax manager at Raimondo Pettit Group. Linda is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University with a BS degree in Accounting. Before working in public accounting, Linda had extensive experience as an internal accountant working in private industry as a "CFO for hire". Linda’s area of expertise is business taxation.
